The Rundown: AWS just announced a slew of new products and integrations to make generative AI more accessible, including the general availability of its Amazon Bedrock AI service featuring Anthropic's Claude chatbot and Meta's Llama 2 model.

MISTRAL AI

The Rundown: Fresh off its massive funding round, French AI startup Mistral has released its first large language model, called 7B, freely for anyone to use and build on via open source license.
The details:
Mistral released the model under Apache 2.0 license — and claims its performance matches top small models at lower compute cost.
This pushes generative AI openness, though the model itself remains private — with Mistral's business model involving paid products.
The startup previously made waves with a record-setting $118M funding round for its mission of "making AI useful" with public data.
The relevance: Mistral’s sky-high valuation and funding had our curiosity, but a 7B parameter-free model really gets our attention (Django Unchained reference, movie buffs!). Will this new model be another major step forward for the open-source AI movement?
