NVIDIA is set to present around 20 research papers at SIGGRAPH 2023, showcasing groundbreaking new AI research aimed at helping developers and artists bring ideas to life.
The research papers range from AI models that turn text into images to inverse rendering tools that transform images into 3D. Read more about their research papers in their latest blog post.
The 5th paper presents an impressive demo, previewing NVIDIA's new AI-driven method that uses neural physics and AI to enable artists to create realistic hair for 3D characters in real-time. It seems advanced technology is putting an end to bad hair days.
Inflection AI has just launched Pi, a ChatGPT-like competitor designed to be a kind and supportive companion assistant. Pi acts as a coach, confidante, creative partner, and sounding board.
Backed by $225 million in funding and founded by DeepMind and LinkedIn co-founders, expectations were high for this AI chatbot. However, early users are reporting the chatbot as underwhelming, with many calling it a "slower version of ChatGPT."
Give Pi a try for yourself, and share your thoughts by voting in the poll below.

ChatGPT just cut Chegg in half. On Monday’s earnings call, the CEO mentioned that the chatbot is affecting subscriber growth, causing the stock to plummet nearly 50%.
The AI-fueled anxiety rippled through the education sector, with Pearson and Duolingo shares also dropping 15% and 10%, respectively.
To counteract this, Chegg has partnered with OpenAI to develop Cheggmate, while Duolingo launched an AI-powered subscription tier.
Samsung has decided to temporarily ban the use of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, on company-owned devices and internal networks following an accidental leak of sensitive data last month.
The restriction will last until the company can establish secure measures to safely utilize AI for enhancing employee productivity.
Don’t freak out. The ban will not affect consumers or other Samsung device owners. Nonetheless, this leak is another example of why it’s worth using caution when using chatbots.
