META

The Rundown: Meta recently unveiled AI chatbots mimicking celebs like Kendall Jenner and Snoop Dogg. However, giving them different names like "Billie" and "Dungeon Master" has mainly spawned confusion, skepticism, and backlash.
The details:
Additional celebrities with Meta’s alter-ego personalities include Tom Brady, Mr. Beast, Charli D’Amelio, Paris Hilton, and Dwayne Wade.
It's unclear to some fans if it's the real celebrity or AI, with limited disclaimers — leading to questions of whether the star consented.
Meta reportedly paid celebs like Jenner up to $5 million for rights to their face and voice — but fans are confused by the name changes.
Legal and ethical issues could arise if AI says things counter to celebrities' brand relationships.
The relevance: Meta tried getting creative here, but missed the mark with confusing name changes and a lack of transparency. And with brewing hate for AI in the mainstream, stories like this only add fuel to the fire…

ADOBE

The Rundown: Adobe just revealed an experimental tool at the company’s MAX Conference called Project Fast Fill, featuring a new way to edit videos using AI generation and text prompts, and it’s insane!
The details:
Fast Fill is similar to Google's Magic Eraser or generative fill for photos, but works with moving video.
It uses generative AI to fill in missing areas after removing objects/people from clips.
Text prompts can alter colors, lighting, and more without traditional editing.
It's still an early experiment, but it could eventually come to platforms like Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Why it matters: As AI’s photo editing capabilities become common, tools like Fast Fill seem poised to do the same for video. It expands creative possibilities — but will also raise new questions about trust and truth in media.

QUICK HITS ⭐️
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman reportedly told staff the company has brought in $1.3B in revenue, with projections up 30% from the summer. The company also has big announcements coming for its Nov. 6 DevDay — with a report claiming OpenAI is working to make it both cheaper and faster to build apps using its platform.
Google is keeping pace with the other AI giants, rolling out a text-to-image tool directly within its Search Generative Experience. The image feature adds watermarks/metadata automatically to label AI creations and is age-restricted to users 18+.
AI-generated voices are reportedly flooding TikTok with conspiracy theories and falsehoods, mimicking celebs like Barack Obama and Elon Musk. Researchers worry the tech could turbocharge misinformation in the upcoming election, with the platform struggling to detect and label deceptive clips reliably.
