The Rundown: Meta is reportedly developing dozens of AI chatbots with unique personalities to appeal to younger users on its apps — which could launch as soon as this week.
Key points:
Meta’s ‘Gen AI Personas’ aim to boost user interaction with features ranging from whimsical banter to practical coding aids.
Planned bots include a sassy robot named Bob (modeled after Bender from Futurama) and a human-curious alien named Alvin.
The company aims to drive engagement among younger users who have flocked to TikTok over Facebook and Instagram.
Our thoughts: AI personalities grab attention, but sustaining meaningful appeal is the real test. The bots mentioned might not exactly scream 'cool,’ but with the recent success of Character.ai, this might be a genius move by Meta.

The Rundown: Tesla just revealed that Optimus, its humanoid robot, can now sort objects autonomously (and do yoga) — a significant update in the world of AI x robotics.
The details:
The video shows Tesla is making significant progress to Optimus — showcasing major improvements to fluid movements.
Similarly to the latest versions of Full Self-Driving, Tesla also notes that Optimus is now being trained with neural nets end-to-end.
Elon Musk recently predicted that Optimus will account for “a majority of Tesla’s long-term value.”
Why it matters: Optimus’ 5-finger hands and fluid movement may prove far superior for daily tasks compared to current industry-leading Boston Dynamics. It’s highly probable that mainstream media won’t think of Tesla as just a car company in a few years!
